This guidebook is certainly not ultimate in any way. It does, however, provide a solid and fairly quick introduction that would get new players efficiently and excitedly engaged in the minecraft world. It only touches on many of the items and creatures in the world. I would have at least expected more on crafting. There aren't even simple charts on how to make the most basic tools. It also has no mention of the End or how people get started with playing on group servers. If you are gifting the game to a new person, maybe give them this, too. If you've played the game already or are looking for specific information, stick to the online resources for the game.It is at least written well!
I should've looked into the details of this book more. I was expecting something comprehensive that my son and I could use to look up the vast array of knowledge needed to know what materials can be crafted into what items and so forth. Instead this tiny big printed book is essentially a once over on the game never going into any great detail. Very disappointed to say the least. Then again as I opened it up I did notice that in the back it advertised that this company also writes a Candy Crush guidebook. Much as you would expect from something like that this book is a simple cash grab.
Definitely not ultimate! About 40 pages of large print. A very simple overview, unless you've never played minecraft, this book is useless.
This book is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It is extremely short and contains very little information. I bought this for my two kids who are crazy about Minecraft. All the local library books on the subject are checked out forever, so I thought I would spend a little money so they could have a resource to check out. Unfortunately it's really light on actual information. It tries to cover way too many topics and because it's so short, tells you very little about anything. My kids were very disappointed.
I ordered both this flimsy, ultra-thin 40 page book along with the info-packed 307 page The Ultimate Player's Guide to Minecraft by Stephen O'Brien (978-0-7897-5223-9).My first thought after looking through this book was "Is this a joke?!" This "Ultimate" app guide book doesn't even have a Contents page, let alone an Index. Each section only has a few pages in large font with very minimal descriptions and low quality, caption-less black and white illustrations. In contrast, Stephen O'Brien's The Ultimate Player's Guide to Minecraft is truly an ultimate guide with 13 hefty chapters and a detailed Table of Contents and Index. The illustrations are high quality color--detailed, with captions, easy to view and understand.Here are some examples comparing this rip-off book with O'Brien's excellent guide:This book has a section called "Effectively Fighting Enemies in Minecraft." It is only four pages long in a huge elementary grade level size font with only one rudimentary black and white character chart. O'Brien's book has a chapter called "Combat School." It is 20 pages long, has detailed descriptions, color illustrations, notes, tables, cautions, tips, etc.It's like night and day. This book by "Ultimate" App Guidebooks appears to have only been created for one reason--to make money for their company. It is NOT helpful, it is NOT organized/sectioned/labeled properly, it is NOT an ultimate players guide.Highly NOT recommended!!
then don't bother buying this book. I bought it because it had good ratings, and thought my eight year old grandson would really like knowing secret tips, how to play, etc. I really was shocked by the poor editing of this tiny book. There were so many grammatical errors that when I read it in bed with him one night, I just started laughing and told him, "The game might be awesome, but whoever wrote this book probably spent too much time playing video games, and not enough time reading and writing!" We both agreed the book was a complete waste of money. He already knew everything that was in the book. He did learn one thing: there is no excuse for bad editing!
I bought this for my son, who is a huge Minecraft fan. He looked at it for about 2 minutes, and was done. It had absolutely no information in it that he didn't already know from playing. I suggested he donate it to his school library, but he countered that anyone who plays Minecraft at all will already know everything in the book. It's basically useless.
This is a great beginners guide It really explains everything because it is so basic. good bookI also bought the minecraft essential book and liked that one better. if I were to choose between the two I would choose the minecraft essential book over this one.
