He is the first Christian author to produce an extensive corpus of Latin Christian literature. He also was a notable early Christian apologist and a polemicist against heresy. Tertullian has been called "the father of Latin Christianity" and "the founder of Western theology." Though conservative, he did originate and advance new theology to the early Church. He is perhaps most famous for being the oldest extant Latin writer to use the term Trinity (Latin trinitas), and giving the oldest extant formal exposition of a Trinitarian theology. Other Latin formulations that first appear in his work are "three Persons, one Substance" as the Latin "tres Personae, una Substantia" (itself from the Koine Greek "treis Hypostases, Homoousios"). He wrote his trinitarian formula after becoming a Montanist; his ideas were at first rejected as heresy by the church at large, but later accepted as Christian orthodoxy.

I was thrilled to find this collection of all of Tertullian's works in one place for a low price. I have two criticisms: First, the table of contents is not well laid out, and it is difficult to skip around in the work. If you're simply reading cover to cover, this isn't a big problem, but makes quick reference more difficult. Secondly, the translation is very stilted and, at times, incomprehensible. This is the result of a more literal translation philosophy (word for word instead of phrase for phrase), and is understandable. It's just not my personal preference. For these two reasons, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
I never thought it would be so easy to read Tertullian. All of him. And the translation, though old, is very very good. Tertullian wrote in sound bites and you never get lost in big fat paragraphs.
Many of the ways we express things in the modern Catholic Church had its beginning with Tertullian. Although he became seperated from the main church, his thoughts are still usefull in church teaching.
This is by far one of the best products that ive purchased on  in a long time!!! highly suggest it!!
