Sir Ian McKellen, fresh from his performance as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings is Prospero, and heads a strong cast in Shakespeare's last great play. The wronged duke raises a tempest to shipwreck his old opponents on his island so that he can ensure justice is done. With Emillia Fox as Miranda, Scott Handy in the pivotal role of the sprite Ariel and Ben Owukwe as Caliban, this new production, directed by John Tydeman, balance the magic and the earthiness with music playing a key role.

My sons (ages 17, 14, 12, and 10) love this. Without even realizing it, they have memorized whole parts of the play! When you listen, you can close your eyes and see the action.

The usual quality expected from Naxos - excellent sound recording with special effects - would recommend to anyone especially as good CD recordings of Shakespeare seem difficult to find for some reason.

As I have come to expect Naxos Audiobooks delivers another great performance from their Shakespeare series.Sir Ian McKellan and the rest of the cast bring us a magical performance of one of Shakespeares best plays.Comes Hgihly Recommended!

This is an apt presentation for a Shakespeare play. The parts are read very well, and it enhances the reading of the play. I bought his to use in my high school Shakespeare classes and found it to be a useful tool in relieving the students from having to read aloud too much.

I have ordered many Naxos CDs over the years and this one did not disappoint. My children were taking a Shakespeare class, so this was the perfect CD for our many car rides to and from classes. I never hesitate buying Naxos audiobooks. We have so many now and have been happy with all of them.
