Japanese Edition "Am I small?" - Tamia is not sure and keeps asking various animals that she meets on her journey. Eventually she finds the surprising answer... Reviews "immensely enjoyable"—ForeWord Clarion Reviews "for children who enjoy lingering over pages full of magical creatures and whimsical details [...] told in simple and engaging words and imaginative pictures.”—Kirkus Reviews "a fantastic book that has enchanted me"— Customer Review "We are in love with this book! [...] As an artist, I love love LOVE the art in this book, I think its not only beautiful, but perfect for children. My son spent a lot of time just studying every colorful page. We read it twice in the first sitting because he was so happy! He's not yet 1, so getting him to sit still for story time is tough, and this book was such a hit he sat through it with nothing but a big smile and lots of pointing to the stuff he liked on the pages. I highly recommend this book :) Get it get it get it!""— Customer Review "Written in a very simple way but with a profound message for both adults and kids."— Customer Review "I LOVED it. Lots of repetition to help 'lil ones get used to structure and words! Many different words being used to help them improve their vocabulary (or pick the best word!). Most importantly, it sends a good message about how being unique and different is good. I STRONGLY suggest you check this book out!"—ESLCarissa.blogspot.com "readers will emerge from this book feeling slightly more confident about themselves—whatever their size."—ForeWord Clarion Reviews Tags: Children's Picture Book, Big, Small, Size, Basic Concepts, Relative, Relativity, Early Learning, Perspective, Point of View, Opposites, Understanding, Children's Book, Illustrated, Illustrations, Adventure, Girl, Child, Fun, Softcover, Happy End

This is a great book for people that are just beginning to learn Japanese. It's a very cute children's story that uses basic Japanese. I highly recommend it!

This is not a review of the story, it's a review of the Kindle format. The issue I have is that this book has been converted to Kindle format like a picture book, and - at least on my iPhone 6, the resolution of the images is too low for complex Kanji to be easily readable. As a complete beginner at 日本語, I somewhat unsurprisingly had not yet learned the Kanji for "microscope", and could not see the strokes clearly enough to look it up. That was the only one that was a problem, but I could imagine other books being made essentially unreadable by this treatment. ought to format Japanese picture books like they do some magazines - have the option to switch between a true page image, and an article view where the text is actually text and can be resized as needed.

I haven't been studying Japanese very long, but I've already figured out that I'd just as soon not try another book written entirely in kana. Please know that this review is for the kindle edition. This book employs kanji (most of which are very simple) when it needs to and they are well within the reach of the average beginner reader (either age or experience wise). The kanji for microscope is the sole exception for that. The text is not zoomable at all once it "focuses" on that section of the page. I was able to make up enough radicals to take a stab in the dark at all three kanji, but that format choice was rather a poor choice for a book like this.Adorable art, easy enough to follow along with, and not written entirely in kana. It loses one star for formatting issues, but works well regardless.

This is a great book to read to your children! This version is in Japanese only, but I saw another version with English and Japanese together. It also seems to be in a dozen other languages, if Japanese isn't your thing. But really, so adorable.
