I've heard this play way too many times to count. I rank this recording in the top five, maybe number one. Yes, there are some cuts to the text but the drama more than makes up for it. I give high marks to Trystan Gravelle. He is what I expect Romeo to be like: passionate, romantic, dramatic. You don't want to stand in his way or you will be sorry. And the part when he receives the news of Juliet's "death" will break your heart. It was also delightful to hear David Tennant's voice! He was a fantastic Mercutio in the Arkangel recording of R&J. He takes a turn as Escalus in this production. Give this a listen, you won't be sorry!!
I bought it to play for my freshmen, but since it is abridged, I can't do so. Disappointing.
