I just don't get it when somebody leaves a negative review on a book of Joel Osteen's. His books contain inspiring, guiding, and comforting messages to all those out there - regardless of your spirituality. And this one is no exception. I'm 20 years old, a young fan of Osteen, and I watch his inspirational sermons all the time. By the time they're over, I feel refreshed, renewed, and revitalized in my soul. I feel as if I can do anything. He's a positive man who wants everyone to succeed in life, with lots of sincerity. About this book. I currently have 4 of his books, including his latest, "The Power of I Am", and when I saw this on the shelves I grabbed it. The title suggests exactly what it's about: having a fresh start of the new year; a fresh start with yourself, with your spirituality, with God, your family, friends, love life, financing, work, and other aspects in life. Like his other books, Joel uses Scripture to back up his comforting words. Even if you're not that religious, Joel still writes content to overall feel good about yourself. He encourages you to settle for nothing less than the BEST of you. That's right, aside from his Pastor side, he's a wonderful mentor alone. This book covers avenues of how you can let go of negativity, the past, and open a new door of positivity and success. And most importantly have a fresh start - no matter how tough things can be for you. I can tell through Joel's attitude, his sermons, and his books that he genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I'm only a few chapters in and I already feel like God is giving me a second chance at life, since things have been hard for me. Joel reminds us in this book that God gives everybody a fresh start in life, and never stops guiding us through life.
