While searching for children's books for my sister, I stumbled upon this book. As I always do, I read the book before allowing her to read it. It was a FANTASTIC read. It's a bit longer than typical picture books, which to me is an advantage because the length prepares children to read longer literary works in the future. The story itself keeps the reader engaged in Selena's story.The lesson that this book imparts is quite valuable. Children will see the importance of contentment, of being satisfied with what they have and with the people who love them. It's a great lesson that everyone should learn, and this book teaches through a thoroughly enjoyable story. Highly recommended!
I gave this five stars for the illustrations alone. They are as amazing. It's like you are watching an animated movie. The story is definitely for older children. It's a typical story of wanting to leave home, but finding that home is the best place. I think girls ages 5-8 might like this book because the illustrations are so good.
This is a very cute story which tells the tale of a small fairy who is always chosen last for everything due to being "the littelest." If you are reading this to a child with older siblings then they will relate to this story. If you are reading this to a child with younger siblings it might help them to develop some empathy as to what it's like to be the youngest child. The illustrations in this story are beautiful as well, perfect for a little girl between the ages of 2 and 7!
I loved this book. My kids and I read this last night and found it to be totally charming. These are some of the best illustrations I have ever seen in a Kindle children's story. The little fairies and magical creatures are so cute that you want to keep looking at the pictures even when you are done reading the book. I loved the lesson in the story and thought the ending was perfect for a story intended for this age group. My sons and I took turns reading this together and the book was long enough to give us twenty minutes of enjoyment.I particularly liked that this story let the little fairy learn a lesson through her own actions. I think it is important for children to identify with characters that make their own mistakes and learn from them and this book does just that. The character is very cute and my kids could identify with her desire to not go last on everything as they frequently have this argument with each other. Very, very good.I did find one mistake in the book that did not affect our enjoyment, but I did want to point out to the author. At location 77 there is the following sentence "On the other side of the ocean lay the vast, deep blue ocean."Overall, a magical and worthwhile read for children.
The Littlest Fairy is a wonderful story for kids, and a great book for beginning readers to read to gain reading confidence. The story is not too short, like a lot of children's picture books, and it's also not too long. The illustrations are absolutely breathtaking. The story revolves around a fairy who is not happy that she always gets "what's left" because she is the smallest in her family. She goes off to find a new place to live, but soon realizes that she misses her family. It turns out, her family missed her too. Her family promised not to make her settle for "what's left" anymore! A very nicely written life lesson.I will definitely be buying more of this author's books.
As usual, Michael Yu has published a great book for kids- but yet one that appeals to and engages with us older kids as well. Another round of great illustrations (just who does these?) makes this a required addition for your little one.As with his other works, this one as well has a moral, which provides some easy real world talking points for you as well. It definitely drove a conversation with my 7 year old.Also as the previous reviewer mentioned, it is a nice length. The resulting story has more depth than most others my son likes but it isn't so long as to lose his interest.
It's a great little book . Teaching that there's no place like home no matter how beautiful other places are when you have a good family. And home is where your family is. It also shows us how to help and how to share,and that you don't always have to be 1st. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good story to children. It's a great read with lessons for everyone.
