I purchased this initially for a literature requirement for homeschooling my high school age sons. We listened to these audio books in the car while we were doing errands or headed to other classes. It is an excellent audio recording of Les Miserables and Billy Bud, Sailor. I hadn't read Les Miserables in high school. Les Miserables is now one of my favorite books. It is classic historical fiction set during the French civil war with themes of war, suffering, sinister plots, heroism, grace, and hope. It is definitely high on my list of favorite books and classics. I bought another copy of this audio recording so that I can listen to it myself whenever I want. Billy Budd, Sailor is a good audio book that is a nice bonus in this set. It deals with provocation to do the wrong thing and resultant consequences--very thought provoking.
We've listened to Billy Budd, and it was incredible. I had heard the book was a bit difficult to read and so I was told about this radio drama (not a reading of the book, but a dramatization) by Focus on the Family. Bought it, listened to it with my highschool kids. It was a very moving story, easy to follow, and prepared us for the book (which I believe was easier to read because we understood what was happening). Have not listened to Les Miserables yet. Highly Recommended!
Les Mis as it was meant to be shared. This is on our shelf as a gift for anyone who doesn't already own it. These audio dramas are true to the story and make the 3 hour car ride feel like 40 minutes.
wonderful audio stories. Focus on the Family continues to make great stories. It was pictured so well we wanted the movie Les Miserables.
