I was excited to have a beginning book in French about a high school age character. Sadly, it's a bit too hard, and the chapters too long, for beginning French students, but more so, it's not very interesting. Non-authentic texts often sound contrived, and this is no exception. I bought both the book and the CD.
This is a great audio book for learning basic French. It's easy to follow and allows for use of language comprehension skills.
