This is a useful book for anyone involved in mathematics. This book has many practice problems as well as solutions. It also contains many problems that pertain to everyday life at home or office. This book is a must for any high school student wanting to get a head start on the college mathematics. This book reads very well, and contains excellent drawings to enhance the comprehension of the topics discussed.
CAUTION: used books do not come with ACCESS CARD PACKAGE even though title and description on first page clearly states so. The description on front page is only for new books. Not sellers fault. needs to make a change to allow used book description on front page as well as new book description. This could be done better. Needs improvement on 's part.
I like the many graphs, examples and diagrams.The only thing I really object to is that it appears to be a course work text and expecting anyone (first time) to take in this amount ofinformation in a short time like a semester course would be troubling.There are parts here that are full year courses or longer.My estimate is that the book could be used for four semester coursesin a fair manner. The object of education has to be to educate the student, not kill him with homework... breaking good students should be frowned upon!The text is also a very good reference book, but lacks what I would call"full exposure" to axiomatic proofs.
Excellent book. Content well organized with many practical application problems. I particularly liked loose leaf version because it was less costly and I was able to take a section of the manual out for transport during a trip making for a much lighter load. Note that corresponding solutions manual (sold separately used or new - highly recommend) only shows solutions to odd numbered problems, however, problem types are duplicated so this did not pose an issue. Not sure of updates available in newer edition, but it's pricey. Since the principles/concepts covered in this book really don't change, my class only required the older edition which covered the material nicely.
My professor allowed our class to use this later edition. Honestly, even with this older edition not much was changed other than maybe a few problems being out of order, but still the same problems from the newer edition. Once I told everyone it only cost me 0.16c + shipping and handling, they were all floored. This book was a great buy and I even got a MyMathLab Code with it! Great deal!
Very well written and organized text book that is a great way to summarize the mathematics required for predictive analytics. When coupled with MyMathLab (the new book comes with a code that provides access to the online instruction - which can be purchased separately if you buy a used boos), and the solutions book, you will have a great learning/review aid for data sciences.
This book is almost the same as the newer addition word for word. I prefer the homework questions in this book as compared to the newer version but they are almost the same. This book does go into more detail.
I wish it had a few more examples, or calculator hints but it was still a decently clear book .
