The information and illustrations are amazing, BUT they become very overwhelming when competing with "shared" layout pages. The reader cannot enjoy exploring one hat without being distracted by the next hat on the joining page. As a kindergarten teacher, I will have to bend the book back to minimize the distractions from the oncoming page if I choose to use this book as a Shared Read-a-Loud. If this is a pattern for ALL the "Whose Is It?" Books [Picture Window Books, Capstone Publisher], this will be my ONLY purchase.
I have the entire series and use it with elementary classroom guidance. Great interative books. The students enjoy guessing which "job" would use each hat. The last page is something the students would use themselves...like hats to keep them warm in the winter.
Really fun for teaching jobs and of those who work in our communities. It's really fun to let the kids (I used it to teach kindergarteners) guess who and what the profession is. Highly recommended for teaching about different jobs.
I read the story to my first graders and they got very excited about guessing who would fill the hat. I only gave it four stars because I really think the author could (and should) have added a few more hats. I did like that the author "mixed it up" a bit putting women in non-traditional roles.
Learning about the different tools and hats that our community workers wear, and why was a great lesson for my toddler class. It's short enough and colorful that it soars their interests an holds on to it.
My students loved this book!! It is aligned with the Common Core standards. I will use the book year after year.
This book was not what I expected. It seemed like promotional material that an energy company would send out free of charge. The story was not really a story.
I thought this book would be more of a story, but it is a series of hats on one page with information about the worker who wears that hat on the next page. If that is what you are looking for, then it is a great book.
