My son already owned and loved Tails and Alphabet, also by Matthew Van Fleet. When Heads was published, I knew we had to have it. The book is fantastic. It's funny, it has great textures for toddlers to touch, and it showcases a great variety of animals. There are a lot of pull tabs in this book and many of the moving parts are protected behind plastic cases (which is a welcome addition since, in other books, my son kept maiming animals in his enthusiam to make them move). Even though this book is quite expensive for a toddler book, it is well worth it. My 16-month-old rushes to pull it off the shelf and stares, slack-jawed in amazement, through every reading.

I have bought all of the books in this series for my grandchildren and I think that this is the best yet. They are very sturdy and worth the money. My grandchildren now range from 3 to 6 years old and even the 6 year old wants her turn with the book.

My husband and I REALLY want to do a great job reading to our 10 month old, but he's an active tot and would rather be romping than reading. Heads is different, though, because of all the fun moving parts. He loves watching them and grabbing at them. I looked at the other Van Fleet books in this series and I liked this one the best because of the variety and creativity.

My son loves this book! I got it and one page had a defect as it was not moving correctly the animal. I started the process of return without any issue with , Unfortunately my son was faster than me and got another page bad so I'm keeping it. I wish the author had done a "protected cover" in all pages. Only few are and right now those are the only ones that has survived my sons excitement of pulling the book.

We bought this book as the follow up to 'Tails' for our 1.5yr old, which our whole family has enjoyed. This book is just not quite the same. It is thick and heavy and the tabs don't move as fluidly as 'Tails'. My husband noted that in 'Tails' the tabs all had dual purpose (something on each side), where this one many of the tabs only move one aspect of the story adding to the bulk of the book. Overall, still a fun book, but my toddler has not enjoyed it quite as much as 'Tails' and the price tag is hefty!

Having bought two of Van Fleet's other books (Tails and Dogs), we were delighted to find the same level of interactive reading fun in a sturdily constructed book. "Heads" has some of the moving parts behind clear plastic which helps to protect some of the components from the ravages of little folk.I'd also like to comment about this book being rated poorly because it's too easily destroyed by babies and toddlers. While I think it's great to always have baskets or shelves full of indestructible board books that are always available to babies and toddlers...I also think memories are made by having a handful of books that are "put up." These are the books that might easily have whole sections/parts torn off. These are the books that come down for special "sit in the lap to read" times; and, seriously, is there any more special time than that for child or parent? Toddlers quickly recognize that a book requires "care" in handling--but their tiny hands just aren't equipped yet for that degree of gentleness and dexterity. One of those really special books that immediately comes to mind is "The Wheels on the Bus" by Paul Zelinsky. My son and I operated all the various moving parts together, his tiny hand clutched to mine. The excitement on his face that day that he was "careful enough" to operate the parts by himself was priceless. And, yet, he was still sitting in my lap at the time. And, YES, the book was held together by much tape and glue. All part of the memory.

My one year old was given this as a gift. It is a very cool book and would have stayed that way if my child was older. At age one, all she wanted to do was pull on the moving pieces. I have had to try and repair the book a few times. And, yes, I was supervising her while she looked at it. She is just at the stage where she wants to investigate how things work and this book is paying the price. I have now put it away. Hopefully, by next year she will be more interested in using the arrow tabs.

My daughter absolutely loves these books. There was a spot on one page where the pull didn't work very well do to it catching on the page, but other then that, we are enjoying this book to its fullest.
