I don't understand the positive reviews of this book, nor do I understand how Baby Einstein could be so backwards with this publication. Does no one who works for this imprint have children? Sure, there are bright colors and the book is easy for babies to hold...but any company that produces children's books and toys know that today, babies don't play with marbles and jacks...because they're choking hazards!!! If you want to help babies match words to familiar pictures, don't choose corn on the cob for "corn" and whole carrots with the leaves still on them for "carrots." How about keeping it simple and choosing "pants" and "shoes" over "jeans" and "sneakers"? How many of us are saying to our toddlers, "Let's out your sneakers on!" One of the "first words" was "dishes and placesetting." I don't think I need to say anything more about that choice! Two pages devoted to instruments and two more devoted to marine life are for a different age group unless your child is going to the symphony and the aquarium every week. I really don't think a lot of thought went into this book. I used to work in children's publishing, and if I was in charge of this title, I would be embarrassed.

This has been such a wonderful book for my little one and I can see her growing and learning new words all the time. At first I would point to an item and tell her what it is and now we play games and I ask her to show me the item and she finds it on the page. It is incredible how much they learn from this book and they can apply it to other items. At first I thought that it was an overwhelming amount of items per page, but as she is growing she learns from it all the time!A few months ago my MIL purchased some play food for her house and my little one was able to point out so many different objects that were in the book! It goes to show that she can apply it to beyond just the page.If you can find this book this would be a great addition to your library it expands their learning and can be fun to play word games with them.

I used this book for both of my boys. They both sit for long stretches and study the pages. It's really awesome to be able to show them what things are and then see them be able to find the objects in the house. I really feel that this book also encouraged them to speak. I will name an object they point to and then ask them to repeat it. It's just an all-around great book for todders!

My kids love this book. It was one of my daughter's favorites at bedtime every night, and her little brother followed suit; however, the book was destroyed shortly after he took interest as it was getting quite old. We were glad to find a brand new copy on !

We received this book as a gift for our daughter at her 1st birthday party. We put it away with her 18-24 month clothes accidentally so we just found it and gave it to her two months ago and she has not put it down since. EVERY time we go somewhere in the car she has to have it. She even learned her first color from this book; Red in case you are wondering. This book is filled with simple words and objects that you can use to teach your child as you turn the pages with them. Our daughter is fascinated with the bright and interesting pictures in the book. The pages of the book are thick so young children can easily turn them without ripping them. There is no story in the box just a lot of colorful objects on each page.I highly recommend this book either for your child or to give as a gift. I had to buy another copy of this book from because I left our first copy on the roof of our car as I drove to the store and it slide off and was ran over by the time I got back to it. There is no other book that keeps my daughter's attention for whole car rides like this one did so I don't regret buying it again.

My toddler, who is 16 months old, absolutely loves this book. I'm not sure if every toddler is like she is, but she loves books that have a lot of different little things to look at, point at, and talk about, and this book fits the bill. Every page has a lot of different items on it - and each page has a different theme (e.g. food, transportation, wild animals, etc.) My toddler has a lot of books and she picks this one up a lot. It's a pleasant book with nice illustrations and real photos and a great mix of vibrant colors. I highly recommend the book.

We bought this again for our second baby, because our first was pretty rough on her copy. Lots of pictures and words, and big pages that are easy for little hands to turn. A great book for the first few years!

What can I say? My toddler adores this book. I got it thinking he'd be too young to enjoy it much yet, but he loves pointing at all the pictures on each spread (with cartoon baby Einstein characters interspersed throughout). This is the first book of this kind that he has owned (dictionary-type book with multiple words per page) which probably has something to do with it, but if you are in the market for this type of book, I don't think you can go wrong with this one. It's colorful, cute, playful and actually covers a surprising number of themes (transportation, clothes, animal, etc.) Love it!
