I have to say I am very impressed with this little book! It's informative, well-made, and looks good on any shelf.First, I have to give props to the guys at Little, Brown and Company for making the book look so much like something you'd find at Twilight's library. The entire cover is exquisitely detailed with ornamented gold and jewels, not real or metallic of course, but still quite beautiful. Also, inside the cover is a broad spectrum of quotes taken out of the show, from the Mane Six to the Cutie Mark Crusaders and even a few background ponies. It was something I wasn't expecting, but was thrilled to see. The feel of it being a genuine Equestrian book is not limited to the cover. The book has a distinct feel of wanting to hide the fact that it's a human book, which is pretty cool when even Star Wars books feel like they were made on earth most of the time.The sections in the book are well written and concise, so don't expect three or four pages detailing each character. But they provide a nice character sketch for the Mane Six, the Princesses, and many background ponies. Derpy is of course ignored completely except for a single image of her napping on a cloud, but that's not really an issue to me. Other sections include information dealing with the series' antagonists, as well as locations in Equestria.A good chunk of the book is taken up by the episode synopses. I kind of appreciate this, as it is a nice little guide for people who are generally unfamiliar with the show. I can just flip to a section in the book when I'm showing the series to a newbie and they can quickly choose an episode that suits them. But for veteran fans like me, it's more or less wasted space. I still like to read the synopses once in a while, but they're not my main focus.
