As any well-written reference book should be, this book can be read completely through or the reader can go directly to any chapter and feel right at home. The author frequently points out where opinions differ from his and provides info for the reader to explore other opinions.
I am taking a nonprofit course this semester so needed this book. The chapters are very lengthy but loaded with a lot of information. It is easy to read and enjoy the ease of understanding what is written and the knowledge that I've learned from this book. It's definitely in the top five for good, solid information.
I purchased this for a class. The text provides a good overview of non-profit management. A lot of the text is simply summaries of other articles and texts. I wanted more depth, but perhaps this is deep enough for an undergrad class at a community college.
This book is a little bit of a dry read. While most of the concepts are interesting, all that the first chapter does is explain what views the book will be taking on certain issues and what it will be going over. Most of the concepts are in italics rather than in bold, which makes it hard to find the important things and take good notes.
I was aware of the format of the book because I rented it from another site, but when I downloaded it off of it did not have any pages numbers and THATwas a BIG PROBLEM for me, because I am was working on my Comprehensive Exam for my Master's Degree.
The pages of the new text book were coming apart from the glue the bind it together. The book served it purpose but it was not a good buy. It was hard to carry around and the font is alittle different than what am used to. ...so much for the price!!!!!
