I chose to give this ebook five stars for such a sweet and very short story of a very young girl who's about to have a recital and all the practicing andand then being a scared to perform before an audience(a crowd) made this little gal very scared till her teacher helped her find a way not to be scared at her rectal! But you will have to buy it to find out just what happens when she 's up on the stage,yes I liked it and thought it was pretty neat and she was allowed to do more than I was allowed to do on my first and last rectal and did probably much better than I would have done on my first and last chance I had in ballet and tap lessons,etc. Great work Lily! A few clunky rhymes but a favourite with my daughter and one of the ones I do enjoy reading to her. Themes of practicing and gaining confidence with some good rhymes as well as the less elegant ones. I am a Lily Lexington fan as she writes better than many of the authors attempting to write for children.
Story revolves around a little girl who is a ballerina. The basic ballet terms are mentioned. Text is written in rhyme. Our young ballerina becomes upset when she finds out there will be a recital. Her dance teacher presents her with a box that contains a bow that she will wear. That gives her the confidence to succeed.I was somewhat disappointed by the illustrations that did not capture the mood of the dance. While the book is targeted for ages three to five, I feel the text is too difficult to be fully appreciated by that age group.
Fun and a GREAT conversation starter.My Granddaughter and I read this, along with "Beautiful, Magical, Amazing BALLET", the other day as part of a dance marathon. The story sparked numerous "Grampa, look at this!" conversations.
I really enjoyed Tip of the Toes and my daughter did as well! It teaches young girls to work hard and also have confidence and positive self-esteem, even if they feel shy or nervous about a big event. The rhyming moved the story along with a sweet rythm. For an added bonus, Lily Lexington included several other stories about princesses. Many had lessons built into them or mysteries and were entertaining to read. I will look for more books to read with my daughter from Lily Lexington's collection!
A little girl practices ballet in class. She learns that hard work and practice is what gets a person ahead in life. Tip Of The Toes is cute with rhythmic sentences that flow nicely. Adding dance lingo that most children from 4 to 7 will have to look up...but learning is a good thing. Reading this in ebook format I feel there should have been more art. Jumping from one page art and then one page words just took focus away from reading. Off the tip of my head, Tip Of The Toes, flows nicely except for the breaking up of pages words and art. The words are pretty and will be like by many little girls.
This is about a ballerina who wasn't sure of herself when it came time to give a show and dance. Her teacher showed her a way to believe in herself. This is a good story for a child from the third grade up.
Madalene Ray has danced tap & ballet for two years. Madalene Ray has been in two dance recitals. She said she was "kinda scared" before each performance but she did a beautiful job each time. Madalene Ray says she thinks other girls will like this book a lot too.
