ebooks Download

Join actors from Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation as they recreate this classic radio thriller. The breathless pace and convincing details make it clear why the 1938 broadcast of an ""eyewitness report"" of an invasion from Mars caused a nationwide panic. Originally directed by Orson Welles and performed by his Mercury Theatre of the Air, The War of the Worlds is an adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel of the same name. The War of the Worlds is truly the mother of all space invasions, offering a rare combination of chills, thrills and great literature. A L.A. Theatre Works full-cast performance featuring: John de Lancie, Meagan Fay, Jerry Hardin, Gates McFadden, Leonard Nimoy, Daryl Schultz, Armin Shimerman, Brent Spiner, Tom Virtue, Wil Wheaton. The War of the Worlds is part of L.A. Theatre Works' Relativity Series featuring science themed plays. Major funding for the Relativity Series is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to enhance public understanding of science and technology in the modern world.

ISBN-10: 1580812449 or ISBN-13: 978-1580812443I love the casting of this Herbert George Wells masterpiece, given the fact that the cast members have shared countless hours of their lives with me. This time they spirited me away to a time zone more proximate to the one we live in, and the fact that they are all so highly identified with the Star Trek franchise doesn't spoil or interfere with these characterizations at all. My only problem - this was over too soon. Other than that and I felt double-lucky for having made the purchase.BTW, this is an L.A. Theatre Works, unabridged version, 07.23.07. L.A. Theatre Works broadcasts to Chicago on Saturday nights at 10p over WBEZ FM radio, and in this case, they had a full cast of former Trek cast members. Don't miss those broadcasts and don't miss this invasion from Mars; both will stretch you without benefit of video.

After purchasing this audio novel I was initially upset because it was only an hour long. I much prefer my audio novels to be at least 2 hours long. With a foul mode in place I began to listen to the tape. In a few short minutes I was quickly swept up into the story, recogizing my favorite Star Trek actors as they played their parts. The audio novel although short has an excellant production quality. The story is concise and easy to follow. I would like to thank John DeLancie for directing this project and for the participaction of the other actors. I would not hesitate to recommend this audio novel and look forward to others from John DeLancy, Lenard Nimoy and the rest of the Star Trek gang. (The RAMA science fiction series would be great.) Please make them at least 2 hours though.

A few years ago I purchased the cassette tape version of this play and enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately, I lost my copy and have wanted to listen to this play many times since then. I'm glad I purchased this item again and look forward to hearing it again.

A fascinating, and highly listenable, take on the classic Orson Welles Radio Play. Fans of Alien Voices will be pleased to hear familiar characters playing new roles whilst the story has also been updated a little too. A great listen.

I was really looking forward to it, but I must say it left me a bit flat. The acting was not as good as hoped, particularly Gates Mcfadden's reporter, but really most of the actors didn't sell their parts. The special effect also were not as good as the 1938 version
