I have all three of the Wait Wait Don't Tell Me CD's currently available. I put them in the car and the kids and I listen to them. That's a 13 year old, a 16 year old and an over-50 year old. We all enjoy them - not just "enjoy" but laugh out loud. This is a funny funny show. I particularly love it when Paula Poundstone is on the panel, but everyone is hilarious. One segment of the show is called "That's Not My Job". This is where a well-known person is quizzed about something that is NOT in their expertise or does NOT fit their image. So, Phillipe, who was so fearless when walking a tightwire between the two World Trade Centers, is quizzed about phobias that other famous people have had.The premise of the main block of the show is taking real current news items and quizzing the panelists or call-in-listeners about them. As you may guess, the news items selected are not about health care or Afghanistan or other serious topics. They are more likely to ask, for example, why were Jim and Jane Doe caught as they returned to the scene of a crime after they robbed a pet supply store? To make it easier, the contestant is given three multiple choice answers. But you still may not correctly guess that the correct answer is that Jane dropped her pet duck, which they'd taken along on the heist.Wait Wait gives you weekly proof that truth is stranger than fiction. And you're taking the quiz along with the participants, so you have plenty of opportunity to feel informed or smart or without a clue yourself. The kids and I announce our choices out loud and then eagerly wait to see who's right. And remember, nothing is serious, this is comedy. You can catch the show live on Saturdays.
