Just finished listening to "The War Of The Worlds" released by The Colonial Radio Theatre on Brilliance Audio.Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting Jerry Robbins in person, he and I are friends here on Facebook - as readers of my reviews know, I do reveal when I am friends with the directors/actors/musicians, ect...here on Facebook..With it's adaptation of "The War Of The Worlds" the Colonial Radio Theatre has created a faithful and scary dramatization of H.G. Wells' classic tale of alien invasion complete with its grimness and moments of light comedy when polite British Society so casually deals with the idea of Martians arriving on Earth for unknown purposes.Very compelling listening!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!10 STARS!
An Audie Award finalist for a good reason! The War of the Worlds is THE classic audio drama of all time, however, the real story did not take place in New Jersey in the 1930's, it took place in Edwardian England. It is great to hear an adaptation do the book as it was written. Well acted, well written and a superb rendition. I highly recommend it if you like full cast audios.
Colonial Radio really did a great job with this. It reminds me so much of the original and not the remake. This sounds great. Great job Colonial Radio Theater. Keep up the great work.
The story itself is very well told and well written and keeps your attention, but there are so many curse words that it holds back what would have been yet another great story by Colonial Radio Theatre on the Air.
