It's Garrison Keillor telling Lake Wobegon stories. Nothing more needs to be said. You either are or aren't a Garrison Keillor fan. I "are". Some of the older stories are on here and it's good to hear them again. He's family, as far as I'm concerned, so I love to hear him weave a tale.
Garrison Keillor...hilarious as usual. It's such a pleasure to hear such wonderful stories about such interesting people. If you ever have the pleasure of visiting Minnesota or Wisconsin you'll certainly find one of these 'characters'.
Absolutely Hilarious, Very dry humor and I think the best of Garrison Keillor. His wit is unique. My wife had never heard him and used the discs on a trip to and from our home near Sacramento to San Francisco. She stated they were a delight and she enjoyed the humor.
I have enjoyed this more than I can say. It is a collection of stories of small town, farming folks. Thing that happen in every family and are funny, sweet and touching.
Garrison Keillor's upper midwest humor is unmatched. However, listening to his CDs while traveling in the car is next to impossible because of his low voice on most of the CD. If you turn up the volume you are then blasted by his voice as he speaks up such as his famous line "that's the news from Lake Wobegon, etc. etc."
My husband and I love Garrison Keillor. His stories are life stories told with very dry humor. We always include G.K. CDs on road trips, they are stories that you can listen to over and over and still laugh. His style has improved over the years. The first CD has "Living Flag" story told in 1981 which is a good story, however, I have heard the same story told 10 and 20 years later and his story telling techniques and emphasis have improved. Don't let this comment shy you away from purchasing this set of CDs. CD #1 includes stories from 1981 to 1986. CD #2 includes stories from 1987-1991. CD#3 includes stories from 1993-2001. CD #4 includes stories from 2002-2010.
If you like this type humor then this Garrison Keller effort is for you. A very droll look at rural living. Lots of laughs and Minnesota fun.
A great addition to my GK collection, some favorites on this CD.
