This book can catapult anyone thinking about starting a business into actually putting in the work and making it happen. Unlike those only-believe-and-it-will-all-be-perfect books, though, this one is as real as keeping your tax records and taking inventory. It's about serious business that's also possible business, doable business, and successful business. Dudell draws on guidance from the TV Sharks to make this the guide for any entrepreneur in any kind of business at any point in the process. In addition to its self-help aspect, I found Shark Tank Jump Start Your Business inspiring and even a little bit patriotic. The 'job at the plant' and a gold watch at the end is no longer the way to the American dream. Creatively crafting your own talents and interests into a lucrative business is the way of things today. And when you think about it, that's a more satisfying dream anyway.
I love the Shark Tank and all of the Sharks, but this book does not deliver. It offers some basic and superficial advice for prospective business owners. This book is a waste of time for anyone who knows anything about business. It is well written and would be a great book for anyone who watches the show and has a vague pipe dream of starting a business "some day" and has never read anything about the topic. Other than that it is not worth the time. Good news is that it is well priced and im only out a few bucks.
This is total crud. I was hoping the book would be MORE from the sharks and LESS from the author, but no. This is just a lot of public domain articles about business, interspersed with what the author calls, "Shark Bites." And by that he means short quotes.I listened to the Unabridged audio book - all five hours. It was really bad and had very little info from the sharks.SAVE YOUR MONEY. Skip this one.
This book was not worth buying. It was very cliche with lots of statements that were not particulary helpful to starting and growing your own business. Good if you are looking for motivational clips.
Shark Tank is one of my favorite shows and I try to never miss an episode. This was a good book, IF you wanted to learn more about the Sharks. I personally, wanted a bit more information on launching a business and particularly the investment interests of the sharks. There was some good information and if you have never started a business a GREAT read. Again, I was looking for more in depth information.Bobbie in Raleigh
My favorite part of business school was the Case Study. So the added articles in this book with updates on past Shark Tank winners was great. When I get nonfiction books to help me improve whatever issue I'm tackling, it usually takes me a while to even pick it up to start. I think watching Shark Tank and thus "knowing" the source of information helped me dig right in. A great resource for my library!
If you love the television show, Shark Tank then you will absolutely love this book! Financial freedom is the American dream and it is the reason why many people start a business. These 284 pages read much like a discussion and challenge the reader to assess whether owning and running a business is for them. The chapters are relatively short but in this book you will cover: your strength and weaknesses as a potential entrepreneur, legal structures, marketing, selling, networking, launching your business, financing your business, writing a business plan, developing a product and so much more!!Complete with personal essays from each one of the Sharks and real testimonies of those who have appeared on the show, you will walk away with a realistic approach to business. Much of business is fraught with success and failure and that is one thing this Author emphasizes throughout the book. Also included in this book are tools and resources for you to put to use when you are ready to begin the journey of entrepreneurship and trust me, they don't leave anything out. After reading this book, you can expect to walk away with a wealth of insight to starting your business, but this is just the beginning. As the author states, this is just a starting guide so be sure to take advantage of the recommendations and put into action the lessons you learn.
Shark Tank is a very intriguing show - one of my favorites!It shows the 'American Can Do Spirit' is still alive but not really in great shape - HOWEVER anyone can become rich *IF* they are willing to work hard and take chances. That is what makes America different from much of the world. No one really cares what your skin color is or what your religion is as long as your product or service is needed and priced reasonably. I know that there are still people who won't buy or use a service because of some stupid reason but the vast majority of Americans will.HOWEVER this book is just short of a ripoff. It has very little to do with the show and spourts - at times anyway - silly and bolierplate crap. There is just enough good information in it to keep it from being tossed in my fireplace!!I would rate this a very mediocre 5.5 to 6.0 out of 10 stars. I can only recommend this if you get it at your local library or borrow it from a friend.On the other hand the show is great and VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
