These books are very entertaining, both for me and my granddaughter. The finger puppet is long enough to allow you to act out the stories for the child. We have several of these puppet books, and they are good quality and good value. The spider book follows the "water spout" nursery rhyme.
This is a classic song, so I can sing the story to my little one as I flip the pages. As other people mentioned, the words in one section are slightly different that the song I learned, but it's a minor detail. The book reads "washed poor Itsy out" where I normally sang "washed the spider out." It's a cute book, and a great size to throw in the diaper bag for easy entertainment on the go. The finger puppet is great, and well attached. My baby has tested this out voraciously, and there have been no safety concerns with her getting the fabric loose.
So much fun! You need to sing the song very slowly in order to be able to actually have time to look at the pictures on each page, and my nephew (1.5) ends up being mostly occupied by the 'dancing' spider that I operate with my finger pushed through the back. I'll be dancing the spider around and he gets a kick out of poking it back into the hole. He'll do it on every page and laugh. The pictures are indeed fun, if your little one gives you the time to explain them. Worms with sunglasses, smiling bugs, and sunshine. Once through with the book we'll put it aside and I'll pick up his tiny hands and direct him through the song's hand gestures like I learned when I was little while singing the song again. So much joy in the whole experience! Would buy again for any little one.
I got this book for my six-month-old niece. She really enjoys the wiggly spider puppet, and I think it really helps to hold her attention as well. Her mom uses this book for dual purposes -- actually reading the book, and singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to the baby. The baby seems to enjoy both purposes. She is also much more focused on puppet books than she is on regular board books, which is great.
We got this book for our 2 year old son who loves reading and singing (so since this is a song it incorporates both of his favorite things :) ). Its sturdy, thick "pages" make it easy for little hands to turn and I know it wont get destroyed. The little spider is well attached as well so I don't worry about him ripping this finger puppet off. Very cute little illustrations, fuzzy finger puppet and strong pages make this book perfect for new readers.
My 11 month old son absolutely loves this nursery rhyme, so a book with a moving spider makes this a hit in our family. I only wished the legs moved around too so my son could play with the legs and learn about spiders having eight legs in a more hands-on way. In addition, if the spider's legs moved it would look more like he was crawling with the verses. I ordered it quickly and thought the whole spider moved. My son still loves it though!
I don't know who loves this book more, me or my 15 month old grandson! Really fun. We play a lot of Peek a boo with Itsy. He pushes Itsy in and I push him back out. It's really cute, plus it's nice to know the story ahead of time, since he likes to turn the pages out of order!
Super cute, my daughter loves it and cracks up everytime I read it and tries to grab the spider. The spider is very well secured and it is a very durable book. Good price for a little book sure to entertain a little one
