Managerial Accounting for Managers, 2nd Edition by Noreen/Brewer/Garrison is based on the market-leading text, Managerial Accounting, by Garrison, Noreen and Brewer. The Noreen book was created to serve customers who do not wish to teach the financial accounting-oriented content that is included in the Garrison book. Of our three books (the Brewer book, the Garrison book, and the Noreen book), the Noreen book is the most pure management accounting textbook. The other two books have greater amounts of financial accounting content. Managerial Accounting for Managers by Noreen, Brewer and Garrison is a completely engaging text book. This book takes you on a journey through Managerial Accounting (which is substantially different from financial accounting). Noreen has crafted a book which shines from the ranks of other dusty texts.One would have a difficult time reviewing this text without the mind being drawn to other books on the same subject. By comparison, Managerial Accounting for Managers is a wholly interesting story which conveys its meaning by involving the reader. Other text books are simply left behind in a heap of dry and dusty factoids. While previous texts on the same subject have presented the facts of Managerial Accounting, Noreen, Brewer and Garrison have woven this same topical information into an exciting narrative.I could go on and on at whatever length desired about the positive aspects of this book. You will enjoy it immensely as it provides not only teaching, not only entertainment, but a transporting experience to a higher plane.
This text is easy to read and understand. It is direct and to the point. It does not waste time and pages by making the chapters too long by discussing repeated and unrelated information about topics. I like this book.
If you are even a little bit forgetful, do not use the rental option. Purchase the cheapest book you can find and use that, because that is about as good of quality as you're going to get. And when you forget to extend your rental, they will automatically charge you for the price of a brand new book. I called and tried to get my rental extended after I used a cancelled card to extend the purchase, but the buyout price was already applied and customer service said there was nothing else they could do. They told me I could try and resell it or use the trade in option. I was charged $202 for a used book and the trade in is $2.54 and obviously the used price is around $40. Just buy the used book. Don't rent!!Side note, this is a good book. Not a bad review about the book. Just 's renting policy.
I am not a natural when it comes to accounting, so the explanations in this book often left me confused. They would explain complex ideas through the exclusive use of examples, which was fine except for when they explained things using numbers it was just a rush of numbers that made little sense. More diagrams with arrows connected to boxes with explanations would have made more sense.
This was a great product at a great price. The book uses real world examples to further explain concepts. Highly recommend.
The third edition was recently released with copyright as of "2014". Does anyone know what the changes are from the second edition? I am going to go with the second edition for class in Jan '13, but with what looks like an approximate update of "4 years" the changes might be significantly different. Anyone have anything different?
So this textbook was required as part of the MBA program at Xavier University. Like most of the rest of the buyers of this book, I'd never have purchased it otherwise. Candidly, I didn't open the book much, but it was helpful when I did. It was in good shape, as well.
