I read the kindle version of this book. The illustrations are beautifully done and there is but one sentence of text per page making this a delightful picture book for children. In the kindle version there is a clickable list of many other children's books so don't be put off by the actual length of the book. There are only 21 or so pages of reading. The tale is about a little girl who wants a boat and all the things she would do if she had one. I recommend this book for parents of kids 4-8.
What would you do if you had a little boat? The question is answered on 10 pages with rhyming text and cute illustrations, like the Starfish one. I found the book to be way too sort and the pics were very small for iPad format. I wish there was more to read in this wee little story.
My Review: A story about a little girl who wish if she had a little boat and what she will do. She will let it sail out to sea, ride the big waves, Glide above an octopus, tumble through a marine maze, and skim between the starfish, leave the ocean's blue and travel back home to the little girl. Every little child would love this rhyming book with large text. The illustrations are captivating and fun. The illustrations and rhyming verse in this little book are unique and engaging. This is one of the few e-books my class of 2 & 3 year-olds enjoyed reading with me over and over. The formatting of the book is great too. Many of the children's e-books I've purchased are poorly formatted but not this one. The illustrations fill the screen with the words clearly visible and organized on the same page. It's an endearing book I recommend for all parents and teachers of young children.
There's something very captivating about this short read. I think it's the sense of imagination and travel the text leaves you with. The illustrations are very detailed and finding the little red boat amongst all of the other creatures in the sea could be a game as you flip the pages. It's a perfect length for a story time that needs to be quick and I can easily see a child finding new aspects to the artwork to fall in love with each time. There's so much to take in, especially on the blue whale. Every fish in the sea has their own expression and personality. A mini-masterpiece.
I purchased this book because of the good reviews to read to my 5 year old granddaughter. I was disappointed as I thought there was not enough to it, and it didn't hold her attention enough to ask me to read it again. Would not recommend. I think there are far better selections to purchase.
I downloaded If I had a Little Boat to read with my six year old daughter, she loved the whimsical illustrations! It is a perfect quick bedtime story to read to young kids. The story may be short, but even I found myself getting lost in the illustrations. A beautifully well done ebook to share with your children! I will be watching for more from Calee Lee!
This little gem is great for reading, finding objects, and is just visually lovely. My not-quite 2-year-old grandson loved it and we have and will read it repeatedly. It's a lot of fun to find the boat in the illustrations.
