These stories are better suited to an older child - 10 and up. Due to the time written, there will be opportunities to see the world as it was, and to discuss the changes in medicine and hygiene throughout the years. The stories are very believable - based on the physician's experiences.There is a dictionary where many of the phrases are explained - this is a must as the author uses the common vernacular of the place & time.I will look for more of these on audio. Some might enjoy reading them, but our family prefers to listen to them on our iPod in the car and at home.Enjoy!
Action-packed! Good/excellent grammar. Many word-pictures, bring the stories alive. Amazing method of using every-day happenings to illustrate God's word and instructions to us. Use of native words (glossaried or defined as used) add color. Truly great for ages 8 and up (I'm "up" 71). Christmas gifts to me and my family in the 50's were in book form. My father read them to us. These bring back memories too.
Exciting. Good lessons taught through real life situations.Wish I knew of them before. Great reading for boys!
Read the books as a child and now have my 9 and 10 year old daughters listening to them on van trips.
