I can't believe this only has 5 reviews and doesn't come up in more searches!! It's a fantastic, comprehensive book with shapes, colors, numbers, animals, sounds, flaps, touch and feel (as good or possibly better than books made to be touch and feel- I'm looking at you DK...). I got it for my 9 month old and immediately ordered 3 more for friends that are expecting!

My daughter LOVES this book! She is too young to enjoy the tracing the shapes and numbers, but she likes the shapes page with the mirror and the cut out circle. It's also large enough to high a stuffed animal behind and make it pop-through the circle on the first page. She has started to pick it off the shelf and bring it over to me. Not a lot of reading, but a lot of fun to play with and get her excited about boos.

Cute, cute, cute is what I say about this book. Of course, I do love Eric Carle and have shared his books with numerous students over the years as an elementary school librarian. This one is for my great-grandson and he loves it about as much as I do. It is fun to be able to share with him. I think Mr. Carle does wonderful work and he keeps the children in mind when he produces his works. Keep 'em coming, Mr.Carle!

I checked out this book from city library and my 20 months old daughter loves it! I highly recommend this book for the following reasons:First of all, the book itself is safe for kids. The page is sturdy and think, and the corners are not sharp. The pages turn easily. It is a hard cover book but the cover is a lot thicker than regular hard cover books. There is some kind of padding that makes the cover page feels softer than hard cover books.Second, this book covers many basic topics of early children’s books: shapes, colors, numbers, animals and sound, along with two see-throughs, one lift-the-flap and diverse build-in textures for little hands to feel/trace. For example, sand-paper like material is used for the purple butterfly. The variety of touch-and-feel in this book is so much better than many other touch-and-feel books I checked out before.Third, like other Eric Carle books, this book also has vivid colors and interesting details for kids to explore. Where is the mouse? It is under the rug with a cat sits on!Both my daughter and I love this book and I highly recommend it for parents with children age 0 to 3.

Gave to two one year old grandchildren.....they both love it. They sit alone and look through pages totally engaged. That's a winner!

This book is so wonderfully designed! Every page is a delight to the eyes and touch. I'm especially fond of the mirror insert in the cover's sun and also the little carpet that lifts up with a mouse underneath. Each page has a question that makes the book easy for interaction between parent and child. I've already purchased three as gifts.

Gave this to my 15 month old granddaughter and she absolutely loved it. She's a big reader and has lots of choices, but this one really amused her and is very sturdy.

Wonderful!!!!
