These books are incredibly awesome. We bought about 6 of them, and are making our way through them. I wonderful side effect is that that they are so effective that if you spouse and you can't agree on how to handle the kids, or have arguments over the matter (totally our case), they make such a solid case for doing it "their" way, you can use it as a third party/ mediator. The books have tons of examples of each scenario, which reinforces the concepts very well.
I should have ordered the Love and Logic for pre-schoolers/toddlers first because it helped me better understand the parenting method. This CD was great though to help me focus on one particular Love & Logic technique. The CD is about 1.5 hours long and is presented in a lecture hall style way. The speaker is being taped while talking to an audience and it's surprisingly engaging!
THE best advice on child rearing...ever! Better than John Rosemond, better than Raising Children God's Way and better than our many sessions w/ our child psychologist, even. Our ADHD, ODD 7 year old is finally on the right track now that her parents are. Pearls of absolute wisdom. Treats both children and parents with dignity and respect, facillitating a loving parent/child relationship.Having this info in CD rather than book form is also invaluable as repetition (some experts say 7x) is key to assimilating new information. I just play Jim Fay CD's continually in my car when driving child-free. ;)
Love and Logic is so spot on! No more hitting, guilting, spanking, yelling, lecturing...Energy Drains analogy would be like a gas tank. Without gas your car cannot moved. What do you need? Gas!What fills up your energy so that you can continue to do the things you do for your kids? Hand massage, back rub, a note, wash the windshield, sweep the porch, wash the whites....
This book CD offers great advice for frustrated parents who have toddlers. It worked for me! Also, great for those who don't have time to read another book...
