Would you suffer persecution, poverty, and prison for Christ? Would you endure cruel tortures that take your mind and body to the brink of death and beyond? Would you watch your children suffering for their faith and urge them to remain faithful to Christ? Would you endure inhuman tortures and "hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering" (Hebrews 10:23)? Would you stand boldly and without shame and confess Christ as your Lord, to your own and to your family's peril? Two thousand years of martyrs For nearly two–thousand years, courageous men and women have been tortured and killed because of their confessions of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs tells their stories. Stories of heroic courage and overcoming faith. Stories of love of God and Christ. Stories of the amazing grace of God that enabled men, women, and children to endure persecutions and often horrible deaths. Foxe¿s last revision in 1570 Foxe's last revision of his Book of Martyrs was in 1570. In the 18th century others added to his book. But Christians have continued to be persecuted and martyred every year since then. More Christians were martyred in this century alone than in all the past centuries combined. The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs tells their stories from A.D. 37 to 1997 in modern English, and includes new historical data that clarifies and harmonizes people, places, and times. The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs is the most up–to–date version of Foxe's book ever published. It is essential reading for the study of Christian persecution in Foxe's day and in ours

As editor of The New Foxes Book of Martyrs, I feel I need to protest 's inclusion of reader's reviews that have absolutely nothing to do with that book and are, therefore, totally misleading. There are reader's comments regarding the inclusion of a chapter about John Calvin, which The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs does NOT have. One reviewer even makes remarks about it being published by Thomas Nelson Publishers, but The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs that you picture on this page was published by Bridge-Logos Publishers. The last reviewer criticizes the The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs strongly for not containing information about William Tyndale and Thomas Cranmer and others, which it clearly and definitely does contain. Another reviewer even says the book lists no editor, and my name is clearly on the cover and on the inside. Perhaps only 3-4 of these reviews are actually about The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs. So obviously has simply thrown together all reviews of all versions of Foxe's book and not the reviews of only The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs. So I wish to protest strongly 's having done so since they discredit not only my work as editor of The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs, but they obviously harm the potential sales of the book. Harold J. Chadwick 4/12/2005

This is simply not accurate to Foxes Book Of Martyrs. If were simple converting the language from middle English to modern English, that would have been honorable. The foreward even indicates as much but instead it greatly removes content which is key to seeing Christ strengthen his people in time of persecution. In eliminating so much content the editor masks the underlying hatred there is toward those who loved Christ.

I really enjoy the new (pure gold edition) the updated 2002. Even John Foxe himself updated his book over the years. Hey , how do I tell the difference between the new edition and some of the older ones? I am looking to buy several of the new ones. I will keep looking. The only reason I did not give it a 5out of 5 is that I enjoy reading more in depth on the death of the apostles. Don't get me wrong, I feel the information is accurate, but I enjoy more of the details on the apostles. Such as the account of Polycarp. (GOOD STUFF) If only I can serve my Lord so faithfully. I will somewhere, buy several for my Church.I can't help but think that does not know that there are many different versons. I own four different versons myself. I just love this new edition by Harold J Chadwick. It is an easy read.

I bought two versions of this book, the other being in the original English of Foxe. I would recommend this version over the other since it is a lot easier to read, follow and understand. I wish it were hardcover, but it is a good choice otherwise.

looks like its Foxe's book of martyrs. BUT is the interpretation by the author of what he thought was important. Not able to match martyr's to the original text. Confusing

This is a must read for every serious Christian! Some parts can be hard to read because of the graphic cruelty of supposed Christians on those who dared to oppose false doctrine, but we need to understand what really went happened to true believers for will over a thousand years period of Roman rule.

Besides the Bible, this is one of the classics of the Christian Faith. If you love Christ and His people, you'll find yourself praying for the Martyrs. They are still out there, and we will be. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Faith. God bless our persecuted brethren!

A historical rundown of Christians martyred for their beliefs, including being martyred by the church itself for biblical and doctrinal interpretations. Don't be insulted by the facts. Just understand that even the church has its dark history from the moment it was conceived. People sometimes do bad things when they disagree. Christians are not exempt.
