I'd read this book as a kid and heard it read by my mom several times. Now I have a child myself and wanted to share this adventure with her. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story on our way to and from school. The music and actor's voices really add to the drama and suspence. The sound effects help you feel present. It is like listening to a movie. My 7 year old couldn't get enough.
I've read the books several times to my boys. Several years ago, I began collecting the entire set of these radio dramas to play in the car while taking trips with my family. It kept all of us including my two boys entirely enthralled for hours. As of today, both boys listen to them before bedtime - and that says a lot since I have a 16 and 12 year old. I cannot recommend this and the entire series high enough. You will not be disappointed at the least. It is beautifully preformed and the music and effects are flawless. It is like being there.
Took long day trip with 9 year old granddaughter and wanted something besides electronic entertainment. She even requested we play the 2 nd disc to hear the rest of the story. Great way to introduce some of the classics to our younger generation.
