I read the first 5 books about the McCabe's and the 2 books Johnny McCabe and Shoshone Valley were an excellent read giving the reader the history behind the McCabe's and how they settled in the valley. I'm really looking forward to reading book 8 Thunder. I hope Brad keeps writing about the McCabe's for many more years to come.
The McCabe family is back with lots of action and family love. In this book, the Author goes back, for the benefit of new readers, then brings us forward with present day events. I have really enjoyed reading more about 'Mac-kay'!
A lot of action and many questions answered in this novel. I found that this novel answered some things that had not been finished to my satisfaction. I highly recommend the complete McCabe series 1 through 7.
This series of books was hard to put down. They were full of love and proves reading can be great even without being trashy. If you did not start with book 1 it will be well worth to start at the beginning.
Brad Dennison is an amazing author. I love the McCabe series. I've read everyone of them numerous times. They're always full of history, adventure, and family. I would recommend this series to anyone looking to read a top quality western adventure series. These books are better than most western books and the author is right up there with the likes of some of my favorites....Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey and Elmore Leonard.
My only problem with Brad Dennison is that he doesn't write as fast as I can read. I'm retired (US Army() and I can read all day or all night if I can find something that holds my interest. I read the McCabe series 1 thru 7 in 8 days, and then I find out Dennison's been goofing off. I need book 8!! Incredible series. More! Please.
I have read all the McCabe books and they never disappoint. I feel like part of the family. This book is one of my favorites! It was well written and blessed my heart. I can't wait until the next book comes out!
I really didn't think Brad Dennision could get his McCabe series any better, but he's gone and made a liar out of me. The thing he did in Shoshone Valley to make it, in my humble opinion his best yet, was to add layers to his already wonderfully complex characters. They are so real, you want to talk to them and I have to confess—I do. The scary thing is, they talk back.Brad is a master of making the reader, see, hear, feel, taste and smell what's going on in the scene. His suspension of disbelief is impeccable and as a result, the reader is sucked completely into the story. It's a true experience and not to be missed.Ken Farmer - Author of The Nations series.
