Loved the story beginning to the end! Left one wondering in what direction the story would really go! On the other hand frustrated that Claire had really gone too far in refusing to see it was her stubbornness causing all the problem!
Brooke St. James never disappoints. Every installment is exactly what I want in a sweet, non-explicit, love story. I am particularly attached to the Martin family series because of the author's spot on portrayal of the local accent and family life. I moved almost yearly during my early childhood, but we had a nice little rest in Slidell, LA for about 2 1/2 years. They were the all important tween years of first best friends, first loves, first heartbreaks, and they were seasoned with Cajun food, music, and local traditions. When I read the first Martin Family book, I literally got the butterfly chills when the accent hit me. I was 11 again. I could hear my neighbors talking out on the porch. I could smell the crawfish and see the lightning bugs... and feel the nervousness of my first big crush. There are occasionally a few editing errors in her writing, but nothing that really detracts from her stories for the most part. I am happy to pass these books on to my early teen daughters, and I shamelessly hope they raise the bar on their dating expectations because of it. They're worth it... both the daughters and the books.
I was excited for this next book in the series and really enjoyed Claire's story! This might sound odd, but I appreciated the passing of time. It bothers me when authors try and portray a girl with some baggage falling in love in a matter of weeks (or days, ugh!) There's a healing process and I'm grateful that was reflected. Great story. Wish there were a few more chapters- I didnt want it to end!
I seriously loved this book to the millionth power. Everything was perfect and my heart feels like it's overflowing. Ya'all need to read this! Can't wait for the next installment. Another home run by Brooke St. James!!!
I've enjoyed the Martin family series. You'll enjoy getting to know Cam and Claire. Clean, entertaining, and a great message in the story of healing after facing some bad situations growing up. Catch the whole series, you'll love them all.
The book was amazing as always! The thing is worth some serious money but I greatly appreciate the generosity of the author when placing it on Kindle Unlimited. I love this authors style, her stories, and her characters. This woman is gifted and consistently does and excellent job. Beautifully done.
I really like her north Carolina series, as well as this Bayou series. Sweet, easy reads. I think this one is my favorite so far though. Some deeper issues in here that I think the author handled perfectly. Her discomfort with touching people and embarrassment of showing affection in front of others. Beautifully written story.
My favorite so far in this series. I loved Cam and Claire together. The story telling was beautifully done, I laughed and got teary-eyed. Read it in one sitting.
